Nineteen of Medvedev's twenty-one titles have been achieved on hard courts

A comeback Medvedev won his maiden trophy for over two years with success over Corentin Moutet in the Almaty Open championship match.

The Russian, a ex- world number one, has endured a difficult period, managing just a single victory at the major tournaments and suffering a setback at the New York tournament.

His inconsistency on the ATP Tour - and difficulties with his serving in specific - led to him exiting of the elite rankings and ultimately separating with long-term trainer Gilles Cervara.

Currently collaborating with Johansson and Rohan Goetzke, Medvedev has consistently progressed in the last few weeks - culminating in a hard-fought competitive win over Frenchman Moutet.

It is Medvedev's initial title after the Italian tournament and first on a hard court after March of that year.

Success also means Medvedev has achieved twenty-one championships at 21 distinct events.

"This marks the first occasion I am participating in a tournament with my two daughters at once, so to get a title is really nice," stated tennis professional Medvedev.

"This title is in dedication of my younger daughter my daughter, because the maiden victory I got when my first daughter her name was born was for her."

The athlete, the past champion, had failed in his last six title deciders, featuring in Halle earlier this year.

Medvedev's counter-punching approach and recurring reactions on the tennis court had caused commentators to doubt if his skill to play at the elite level was finished.

However the player has altered his approach in the past month, making an effort to approach the net and play aggressively, backed up by an enhanced serving game.

He recovered from a disadvantage in the opening set against the challenging opponent, winning four of the final five exchanges to gain the advantage.

The pair exchanged breaks in the middle set before Moutet, attempting for his initial professional championship, seized the initiative to force a decider.

The opponent defended four early-game chances in a close final set before Medvedev broke to fifteen to serve for the match.

Suitably, Medvedev clinched the win with a shot at the net, with Moutet incapable to control a shot after a lengthy match.
